Forty students, faculty, sponsors, and community professionals are in the Kiryandongo Settlement Camp of Uganda serving a much needed community there.
Along with medical clinics, VBS programs, and educational activities, the group was there to build a basketball court for the community to enjoy for years to come.
An exploratory trip took Kim Busl of OCI(Outposts Center International), and a team from Rolfson Oil to find needs in the community. They found a line court being used by the close to 100,000 refugee population. Since the then MHA/OCI (Outposts Center’s International) and Rolfson have been working collaboratively on the basketball court.
Children and adults flocked to the completed court to enjoy the finished product. Our own students and faculty gathered teams of locals for drills and pick up games. The surprise happened when our own Principal Toakase Vunileva took to the court, joining one of the teams and playing right alongside for an exciting game.
It just goes to show the kind of comraderie that has been part of this mission from the start. Every team member plays an important role. There is no job too big or too small. Every heart belong in Uganda right now doing exactly what they are doing, helping others in mind, body, and winning hearts to Christ.
