Varsity to Regionals

On Saturday night, Boys Varsity Basketball won the 1A District Championship game against Denver Waldorf in what had gotten close going into the 3rd quarter.

It was an exciting game for more than just the win. This is the first year our Mustangs are in the 5280 league. This is the first year we have gone this far. This is the first year we are testing the waters of what we can do as a small school with big heart.

Team Captain Payton had this to say about the win, “We went in pretty confident because we’ve grown as a team. We work well together.”

And though Ryan says he just likes playing with his friends, the team spirit on the court seems to demonstrate there may be more to it than that.

So, now it’s been announced – Seeding for the CHSAA playoffs – Mustangs qualify for the CHSAA 1A Sweet Sixteen, this means we are considered one of the top 16 teams in the state!

CHEER us on at our next game Saturday night, March 2 at Northeastern Junior College (Sterling, CO) with a start time of 6:30pm.  Our opponent is still to be determined. Admission will be $8 for adults and $6 for students/seniors.

If we win on Saturday, we are qualified for “State” which means we are one of the top 8 teams left, and will then play Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of next week (March 7-9).

Last Saturday night was exciting, but things are heating up this weekend.  Hope to see a lot of Mile High fans out at the game.

Boys Championship Game Saturday Night!

The Mustangs are running wild through district playoffs!

Our boys basketball team won a huge game up in Westminster last night, as they overcame Cornerstone Christian, and a crazy playoff environment.  The Mustangs are now in the district championship game at Legacy High School on Saturday night.  Here is the schedule of events:

2:00pm- Girls 3/4th: Cornerstone  vs FR Baptist

3:30pm- Boys 3/4th: FR Baptist vs Cornerstone

5:00pm- Girls Championship: Shining Mountain vs Belleview Christian

6:30pm- League Awards

7:00pm- Boys Championship: Mile High vs Denver Waldorf

We would love to see you out there for the game.  Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for students/seniors (60+).  Mile High has a couple of players who will be honored for the All-District teams, so stop by for the league awards, too.

Finally, by being one of the top 2 teams in our district, we have locked up a spot in the regional playoffs which will happen the following weekend.  I am going to a regional seeding meeting this Sunday to see when and where we play…I will keep you all posted.

I am so proud of coaches and players for the hard work and commitment it has taken to get here.  It’s great to be a Mustang!
